Progress has continued at the site of the historic Guildford Hotel over the last few months, following the approval of a building permit to rebuild the roof.
Contracted builder, Ultimo Design & Construction, have been engaged and are making good progress on-site, despite not yet commencing with the roof structure itself.
“Although progress on-site may appear slow, this isn’t the case,” says Ultimo’s Director and Project Manager Nathan Stride. “Because of the complex nature of the build and delicate nature of some of the supporting structures, we have to ensure the footings, supporting steelwork and brickwork stabilisation are completed thoroughly. “Getting the roof trusses on is the last step, everything else will move relatively quickly once the structural components are complete.”
The installation of the concrete footings that will support the new internal steelwork structure is currently being undertaken on site.
Next on the schedule is to erect the internal steelwork that will support the new roof structures. Once this is finalised the brickwork remediation and internal stabilisation works will commence in quick succession. This is expected to start as early as next week.
On completion of this, the replacement timber roof plate will be rebuilt. This will help to further stabilise the building and get it ready for the final roof installation.
“We are really pleased with progress so far,” says Owner Luke Martino, “we couldn’t have a more dedicated and capable team on the job. Their work behind the scenes has been incredible. The foundation work has been imperative to the projects success and we look forward to seeing more contractors on-site over the coming weeks as the project continues to gain momentum.
