Building commences at The Guildford Hotel.

It is a momentous day for the Guildford Hotel today, with the rebuilding of the Hotel commencing.

A building licence was acquired on 20 November 2014 and no time wasted in engaging commercial building specialists Ultimo Design and Construction who have started work onsite today 26 November 2014 with the pre-enabling works that will prepare the building ready for the all-important installation of the new roof.

‘This is the day we have been waiting for’ says owner Luke Martino. ‘The roof will pull together the remaining structure and protect the enclosed section of the Hotel.’

Progress has continued off-site also, with community consultations being undertaken with key community members and local business owners over the past few weeks.

A small team of consultants from TPG hand delivered invitations to more than 80 business owners on 20th November 2014, inviting them to a special consultation for local Business Owners to have their say.

Cath Blake-Powell from TPG, was one of the team that delivered the invitations, commenting ‘A couple of business owners had queries, some were concerned but most were interested and excited to see progress and a number were positive, with one business owner stating he had been talking to residents and they were supportive.” Stated Ms Blake-Powell. At the Business Owners meeting a range of issues were discussed, however a focus for discussion was on ensuring parking was well addressed as part of the new development.

In response to community demand for more information, the development team launched a facebook (https://www.facebook.com/GuildfordHotel) and twitter page (https://twitter.com/GuildfordHotel_) that can communicate information quickly and easily and invite further opinion from the community. This supports the website www.guildfordactivate.com.au which was launched late last month. .

‘We are excited to pushing ahead with progress’ says owner; Luke Martino. ‘It is a momentous day for us to pick up tools and get started. We are encouraged by the positive feedback we have had from the public.’ We are happy to be pushing forward’. He says.
